Affiliate Disclosure
Boat Axis is free to read because we earn commissions on some purchases. Here is exactly how that works, and the rules we follow so it never bends our advice.
The short version
- Some links on Boat Axis are affiliate links.
- If you buy through them, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price.
- As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
- Commissions never decide our picks or rankings.
- We follow the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s rules on endorsements and reviews.
The plain version
When you click certain product links on Boat Axis and then buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. The price you pay does not change. That commission is how we pay for research, writing and running the site without paywalls or pop-up ads.
Amazon Associates
Boat Axis is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
How it works
- You click a product link on Boat Axis.
- Amazon places a cookie on its own site. It usually lasts 24 hours.
- If you buy within that window, Amazon pays us a percentage of the sale.
- You pay exactly the same price you would pay without our link.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do I pay more? | No. The price is the same with or without our link. |
| Do you see what I buy? | No. We only see summary reports, never your name or address. |
| Does it have to be the product you linked? | No. Amazon may pay a commission on other qualifying items bought in the same visit. |
| Can I avoid affiliate links? | Yes. You can search for any product directly on the retailer’s site. |
Other affiliate programs
We may join other affiliate programs, such as those run by retailers or manufacturers. The same rules apply to every program, and we will update this page when we do.
Our rules
- Commissions never decide a pick. If the best choice for your boat pays us nothing, it still gets the top spot.
- Rankings are not for sale. No brand can pay to be included or to move up a list.
- We recommend cheaper options whenever they fit your boat just as well.
- Sponsored content is labeled. If a brand ever pays for an article, it will say “Sponsored” at the top.
- Gifts are disclosed. If we ever receive anything of value from a brand, we will say so on the page it relates to.
FTC compliance
This disclosure follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255, updated in 2023). We also follow the FTC’s Trade Regulation Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (16 CFR Part 465), in force since October 21, 2024. We never write fake reviews or invent testimonials.
Where you will see our disclosure
- Near the top of articles that contain affiliate links, before the first link.
- In the site footer.
- On this page, which is linked from every legal page.
A note on our research
Our recommendations come from manufacturer specs, install manuals and verified owner reports. We do not test products hands-on, and we never claim to. You can read more about our method on our About page.
