Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files your browser stores for a website. Boat Axis uses very few of them. This page lists each one, what it does, and how to switch them off.

The short version

  • Some cookies keep the site secure. These are always on.
  • Comment cookies are set only if you choose to be remembered.
  • Analytics cookies are used only where analytics are enabled and, where the law requires it, only with your consent.
  • Amazon sets its own cookies on Amazon’s site after you click an affiliate link.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. It lets the site remember things between pages or visits, such as that you already passed a security check.

“First-party” cookies are set by boataxis.com. “Third-party” cookies are set by another company’s service. “Session” cookies disappear when you close your browser. “Persistent” cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.

Affiliate cookies

When you click an Amazon link on Boat Axis, Amazon places a cookie on its own website, not on ours. It tells Amazon that the visit came from us, so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases.

Amazon’s cookie usually lasts 24 hours after your click. We cannot read it, and it does not change the price you pay. Read more in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Fonts and other services

Boat Axis loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Google Fonts does not set cookies, but your browser sends your IP address to Google so the fonts can load. Cloudflare also processes your IP address to protect the site.

Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to work and stay secure, so they do not need consent. Where the law requires consent for other cookies, such as analytics in the EU and UK, we set them only after you agree. You can change your mind at any time.

How to control cookies

Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies.
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.

You can also install Google’s official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or turn on Global Privacy Control in a browser that supports it.

Good to know

Blocking the Cloudflare cookies may cause extra security checks each time you visit. Blocking comment cookies simply means you type your name again next time.

Changes to this policy

If we add or remove a cookie, we will update this table and the date at the top of the page.
